Christmas is a Jewish Holiday

I know this is a shocking statement for some, but it makes perfect sense.  Jesus is the Jewish Messiah and his incarnation brought about the salvation for both Jew and Gentile, Romans 1:16.  It's is also true that the Catholic Church is the fulfillment of Judaism so Christmas or in Hebrew Yom Mashiach (Day of the Messiah) is a true and wonderful Jewish Holiday.  Of course, it is not just a holiday if you are of Jewish/Hebrew ancestry but for all the nations.  After all, we belong to the Catholic (universal) Church of Jesus the Messiah.

For the moment the majority of the people who are physical descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob have not acknowledged their Messiah.  At some point, God has promised that when the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled then all Israel will be saved, Romans 11:25-26.  Let's hope and pray that this Christmas that God would lift the veil  for more Jewish people to recognize their Messiah and come home to the Catholic Church, the fulfillment of Judaism.

We pray the Canticle of Zechariah, Luke 1:68-79, for salvation of Israel.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
he has come to his people and set them free.

He has raised up for us a mighty savior,
born of the house of his servant David.

Through his holy prophets he promised of old
  that he would save us from our enemies,
  from the hands of all who hate us.

He promised to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant.

This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham:
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
free to worship him without fear,
holy and righteous in his sight
  all the days of our life.

You my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High;
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,
to give his people knowledge of salvation
by the forgiveness of their sins.

In the tender compassion of our God
the dawn from on high shall break upon us,
to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the
  shadow of death,
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

We wish everyone a Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year.
